Here we are again...expat life round 2! If you followed our journey in the past, you know we lived in Jaipur, India for two years prior to having kids. Whenever someone asks what India was like, the best way I can describe it is a smack in the face to ALL your senses. SO hot! SO crowded! SO loud! It was also so amazing. It afforded my husband Matt and I the opportunity to travel the world. As it stands today, we are at roughly 21 countries. That alone was our main reason for accepting the expat opportunity - see the world, without kids, before the responsibilities of parenthood set in.
Fast forward five years, one new house and two kids later, we are about to take a leap outside of our comfortable suburban bubble, and move to Hanoi, Vietnam... during a global pandemic... with our kids.
Big Brother (5) & Little Brother (3) are a huge part of why we immediately said yes to this opportunity. Ever since our return from India, we have been fascinating over the idea of doing it again. We want our kids to see the world. We want an adventure. We want to continue our travels, this time experiencing it as a family.
Most days may be frustrating. Every day we will miss our family and friends - particularly because Covid doesn't allow any of us a proper good-bye. However, experiencing the frustrations is part of the adventure. Bringing along two tiny humans is a game changer. The planning/packing/preparation is all consuming. But the chance at raising young men who are submersed in new cultures and experiences makes it all worth it.
